Duties
- Implementation and management of the departmental web content management
system (Interwoven TeamSite);
- Management of Internet portal and EdInfo: Staff Intranet websites;
- Expert knowledge of web development technologies
and methodologies;
- Understanding and application of industry and
government standards;
- Application architecture and ongoing maintenance
for a diverse range of web systems;
- Creative and innovative solutions designed to meet current and future needs;
- Analysis and negotiation of business and user needs in information
provision;
- Consultation and support for web developers,
content publishers and managers;
- Representation of EQ interests in broader projects
at a National and State level.
Technology
This role has a strong technology focus. Expertise in
technological issues is required of the Web Content Master every day. Major
subjects are listed below.
- W3C recommendations,
particularly:
- HTML 4.01 Transitional–XHTML 1.1;
- Cascading Style Sheets;
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines;
- Document Object Model;
- Web application development:
- CGI programming;
- Database structure and information architecture;
- Rapid application development cycle;
- Web enabling legacy systems;
- Resource estimates and task scheduling;
- Web development:
- Multimedia design principles;
- Server side includes;
- Javascript programming;
- Interface design;
- Usability testing;
- Browser compatibility.
